Regarding the second semester examination and uniform schedule for standard 3 to 8 and informing the primary schools under its control…

In accordance with the above subject and context, it is hereby informed that the second semester examination for the evaluation of students studying in all medium government, granted and self-reliant primary schools of the state will be held from 03/04/2023 to 21/04/2023. A uniform schedule for consistency across the state is included herewith (Appendix – A). For this, the following instructions will have to be taken into consideration and it will have to be ensured that the work is done accordingly by the concerned District/Corporation/Municipal Education Committees.

1) For the second semester examinations of standard 3 to 8, standard-wise and subject-wise format has been prepared from the state level like the first session and given to all the district education and training buildings. Question papers will be prepared by the Diet as per this prescribed format.

2) In the said test, the syllabus of the second semester from November 2012 to March 2023 will be taken into consideration as per the monthly allocation of the syllabus prepared by GCERT in all the subjects of standard 3 to 8. The entire year’s syllabus will be taken into consideration for standard-4 English as a second language.

3) Test papers will have to be prepared based on the prescribed format based on the same schedule for the tests of Gujarati (First Language), Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Environment. Also, the test of the remaining subjects will have to be conducted by the self-reliant primary schools voluntarily based on the schedule prepared at their school level and taking into consideration the prescribed format. Granted schools will have to pay the prescribed amount to the District Primary Education Officer/Administrative Officer for the question papers. 4) If there are self-reliant schools,

they can get all the question papers from the District Primary Education Officer/Administrative Officer and use them in their schools. For this, the self-reliant institution will have to pay the prescribed amount to the District Primary Education Officer/Administrative Officer.

5) Government and granted primary schools will have to implement the same tests for all subjects on the basis of the same timetable.

6) In schools where the shift system is implemented, the examinations for all subjects of all standards will have to be conducted as per the given timetable.

7) If any local holiday has been given by any district on the dates mentioned in the examination timetable, the holiday will have to be cancelled and the examination will have to be taken as per the timetable. 8) The test papers will be prepared by the District Education and Training Buildings. In which the responsibility of proofreading of the paper,

language correction will be the responsibility of the District Education Committee-District Primary Education Officer and the Administrative Officer in the Town

Primary Education Committee.

9) Students of standard 3 and 4 will have to write answers in the test paper. Students of standard 5 to 8 will have to write answers in a separate answer book. 10) Necessary arrangements for maps in social science, environment and graph paper in mathematics will have to be made by the district administration / corporation along with the test papers.

11) The verification of answer books under the semester test will have to be done at the school level itself.

12) Detailed instructions regarding online data entry of the test results will be given separately by Samagra Shiksha, State Project

Office, Gandhinagar and the work will have to be completed within the time limit accordingly.

13) As the second semester test is starting from 03-04-2023, the periodic evaluation dated 01-04-2013 will not be conducted. All the Principals / Head Teachers will have to take note of this.

14) As per Reference Letter-2, in the current academic year 2022-23, all registered government, aided and self-reliant primary schools of the state will have to implement the notification dated 21/09/2019: GH/SH/83/PRE/122019 on a mandatory basis, as per which action will have to be taken to take the children of Standard-

5 and Standard-8 to the higher standard at the end of the examination, which every school will have to strictly follow.

15) As per the existing framework of school comprehensive evaluation, students who get E grade in Standard 5 and Standard 8 will have to undergo re-test at the school level after undergoing remedial education within a period of two months. Students who can make the expected improvement in their grades in the re-test will be given promotion. Students cannot be held back in any other standard except Standard 5 and 8.

16) For the smooth implementation of the second semester examination, intensive monitoring will have to be done by the monitoring staff (CRC-BRC Coordinator, BRP, Education Inspector, TPEO, DIET Lecturer, SSA District Coordinator etc.) during the examination as well as during the verification of the answer sheets.

The said instructions have been circulated on the single file of GCERT dated 16/02/2023 with the approval of the Education Department.
