The Indian Postal Department has released an important update for the Rural Dak Sevak (GDS) Recruitment 2026. The first merit list for GDS recruitment has been officially released by India Post, due to which lakhs of candidates are excited. Now candidates can check their names in the PDF file released according to their state online.

In this recruitment process, candidates have been selected through a merit list prepared on the basis of marks obtained in 10th standard. No written examination has been conducted in this recruitment. A state-wise and circle-wise merit list has been prepared according to the percentage of marks of the candidates and it has been made available online.

Candidates can download the GDS Merit List 2026 PDF by visiting the official website of India Post. You can search your name or Registration Number in the PDF file to know whether you have been selected or not. If the candidate’s name is in the merit list, they will be called for Document Verification (DV) as the next process.

At the time of document verification, candidates will have to be present with 10th mark sheet, identity proof, caste certificate (if applicable), and other necessary documents. After the verification is completed, the selected candidates will be given final appointment.

According to the information, if some positions remain vacant after the first merit list, then India Post may also release the second and third merit list. Therefore, candidates whose names are not in the first list should also wait for the next list.
